The Opportunity

As the Consumer Resolution Advocate, you will be responsible for managing and resolving legally escalated customer complaints, with a focus on matters arising under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). This includes preparing formal submissions, gathering evidence, and representing Hyundai at consumer tribunal proceedings across various Australian jurisdictions. You will play a key part in mitigating legal risk and preserving brand goodwill through strategic dispute resolution, working closely with the General Counsel and Customer Experience team.

 

You must not be admitted to legal practice in any Australian jurisdiction, as admission may restrict tribunal representation.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assess and manage customer complaints that involve legal escalation, particularly those relating to ACL
  • Provide clear, legally sound recommendations for resolution, balancing customer experience with company risk exposure
  • Communicate directly with customers, their legal representatives, and other external stakeholders regarding disputed matters
  • Draft formal correspondence and legal submissions articulating Hyundai’s position in response to tribunal claims
  • Represent Hyundai as an advocate in consumer tribunals (e.g., NCAT, VCAT, QCAT), including attending proceedings, presenting arguments, and responding to tribunal inquiries
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all active and resolved cases, including timelines, correspondence, and outcomes
  • Engage with internal departments (e.g. Legal, Warranty, Product Quality) to gather technical information and coordinate responses
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on ACL-related risks and resolution strategies
  • Identify patterns or recurring issues in customer complaints that may indicate broader legal or reputational risks
  • Recommend proactive measures to reduce exposure to class actions or systemic claims

About You

You have the below skills and experience and are passionate about progressing your career with an innovative and dynamic automotive brand.

  • Completion or near-completion of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited Australian university or equivalent.
  • You should not apply if you have been admitted to legal practice in any Australian jurisdiction, as admission may restrict tribunal representation.
  • Interest in Litigation and ACL with Strong legal reasoning, advocacy skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and professionally.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills, with experience managing competing priorities in collaboration with other internal/external stakeholders. 
  • High attention to detail with some exposure to legal research, drafting or case preparation.
  • Ability to speak confidently and advocate at tribunals.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
